Collision industry teams to donate vehicle to North Carolina U.S. Army veteran

Samara Joseph was presented a fully refurbished Kia Forte at Caliber Collision-Waxhawa so she can get to her college classes and Veterans Administration appointments

Waxhaw, N.C.—U.S. Army veteran Samara Joseph was presented a fully refurbished 2021 Kia Forte during a special event at Caliber Collision-Waxhawa last week to provide her the ability to get to her college classes and Veterans Administration appointments. The donation was made possible by the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program along with car donor GEICO and repair partner Caliber Collision.

Joseph is now working on her associate degree, but a medical condition makes it impossible for her to walk distances or stand for long periods. Until this donation, she was taking costly rideshares or car rentals to get to work, medical appointments and other daily needs.

“I went around to every table to thank people for this gift,” Joseph said after the presentation. “Now I can do more, finish my business degree in October and go into a Veterans Administration work program without stress and worries.” But first, she was off in her newly donated car to Killeen, Texas to visit her grandchildren, something she previously would have had to rent a car for.

NABC Recycled Rides is a program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 3,300 vehicles valued at some $47 million.

Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides presentation included Union County Kia, Protech, RG Glass, Precision Auto Care and Enterprise.
